If you look at the point on a stem where a twig begins its growth you will be able to tell its age. This is because a tree grows upwards from the tips of its stem. A tree forms a new bud at the tip of the stem before shedding the terminal leaf. During the rainy season or spring , the bud swells and produces new stems and leaves. However, there will be a scar that circles the stem, and by counting the number of scars, you can tell the age of the twig.
