Are You A KERAUNOPHOBIC??

I have overheard people saying, ‘I’m afraid of thunder and lightning.’ Meenu Joy, one of my friend’s daughter is afraid of cats. But the irony is recently she got admission for B Sc Nursing in Alappuzha Medical College. A close friend of mine shivers when she sees a cockroach.
When, as a student, I longed to know the word for these fears. What is the one word for ‘fear of thunder and lightning’? Years later when I was referring to words for some other purpose, I came to know that it was keraunophobia. Since then I began collecting words with ‘phobia’. Phobia means fear or hatred. The word is derived from the Greek word ‘phobos’, which means fear. The first part of most of the words originates from Greek or Latin. As for keraunophobia, kerauno - is a Greek word which means ‘thunderbolt’. A person suffering from fear of something is a phobe.
