The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be staged at ten venues across nine South African cities between June 11 and July11, 2010.
Two hundred and five teams played in the FIFA World Cup qualification matches 2010, held within the six FIFA continental zones- Africa, Asia, North and Central America and Caribbean, South America, Oceania, Europe. Once the qualification rounds have finished, there will be a draw, and the names of the 32 teams will be put in four pots, according to FIFA ranking, with the exception of the host team which is always seeded in pot 1, along with the seven best teams. Eight groups are then created, with each group featuring one team randomly selected from each pot.
The groups are decided on a round robin basis, with each team from a group, playing each other once, to determine who will qualify for the knock out phases. The top two from each group will qualify for the round of sixteen. In the last sixteen, each group winner will play a group runner-up on a knock out basis, to leave eight teams in the running. There will be four quarter finals, two semi finals, the third place play off, and then the big one the final.Subscribe to Child Project Helper by Email
