The stone Age was a period in history when man first learnt to make and use tools made of stone. The stone Age began over 2.5 million years ago, and it lasted till about 5000 years ago, when man learnt to make tools made of bronze.
The people of Stone Age were mainly food gatherers. Man first made his appearance in Africa about 1.8 million years ago. However, he did not stay in one place, but went exploring for food and game, or animals that can be eaten.
Early man hunted wandering animals, and these animals must have led him to new places. It wasn't long before Stone Age man made his appearance in South East Asia, and around 700,000 years ago, he had reached Europe too!
