You may not believe it, but the largest organ in our body is the skin. The total weight of an adult's skin is about 3 kilograms. The average adult human body covered with about 1.7 square meters of skin.
Skin, and the hair that grows on it, covers every part of the body like a snug-fitting coat. It is smooth, and waterproof, although you can't always see them without a magnifying glass, there are tiny pores all over the skin. These pores allow the body to get rid of wastes and excess heat through perspiration, and thus keep the body at exactly the right temperature at all times.
