A popular instant noodles manufacturer is giving a toy soldier free with every packet of noodles. Anil and his friends have started collecting the toys. Now, they are sitting together and reviewing their collections.
Anil says to Raju, who is next to him, “If I had three soldiers more, my collection would be nearly as big as yours.”
“Oh, really?” snorts Raju. “Even then, it would be smaller by one soldier!”
“And if I had three soldiers less,” says Suresh derisively, looking at Anil, “my collection would be exactly thrice the size of yours!”
Nikhil then silences everyone by boasting, “But I have as many soldiers as all the three of you put together!”
After a pause, Anil says wistfully, “If only all the soldiers we jointly own were evenly redistributed among us, we’d all have eleven soldiers each!”
Can you find out how many toy soldiers each boy has collected?
Solution
Anil - 3
