Meteorology is the science that studied atmospheric phenomena, especially those that relate to weather. It gets its name from the word 'meteor' which in Ancient Greece, referred to any object that appeared in the sky, whether it is clouds, rain, or rainbows. Today, the word meteor refers to small body of matter from outer space that enters the Earth's atmosphere, and appears as a streak of light, or shooting star.
