In chemistry, you will study that a compound is a substance formed by chemical union of two or more elements or ingredients, in definite proportion by weight. The most important chemical compound of copper is copper sulphate. It is used in the refining of copper, and also in agriculture.
Copper oxide is used to make blue or green glazes in pottery. Other copper compounds include Paris green, which is a poisonous emerald green powder used as a pigment, insecticide and wood preservative, and Bordeaux mixture, which is used as a fungicide for vineyards.
