There’s a small strait off the northern coast of Wales which has seen three ships capsizing and sinking in the exact same spot. But this isn’t the coincidence we’re talking about. This story spans a period of about 200 years and is set in the Menai Strait. It begins on December 5, 1664, when a severe storm hit a ship sailing through the strait. The poor ship, with
81 passengers onboard, capsized and sank to its demise. Just one guy managed to survive, his name was Hugh Williams.
Over a hundred years later, on December 5, 1785, another ship sank in the same spot. Out of 60 passengers, just one survived. His name was Hugh Williams. In 1860, also on December 5, the third ship sank. Yep, one guy survived and his name was Hugh Williams!
